Naming and shaming the demoralization agents in the media, academia, and judicial system responsible for the 2006 Duke Lacrosse Hoax - unsung hero Steven Miller at the end
For what it’s worth, Crystal Mangum is currently serving a far-too-short prison term for murdering her sugar daddy, after laughably claiming she was afraid for her life. I guess she thought playing the victim worked once, so why not again?
Thank you for placing this (at the time) new low for America back into the collective consciousness. As a Duke alumna from 2000, this whole situation stunk from the start to me. Ed Bradley did a brilliant takedown of the whole thing, from the night of the party to the dropping of charges, called The Duke Rape Case/A Loss of Faith. There were actually 2 strippers. He had the accuser’s dance partner on and she stated flatly that no rape ever happened, and had video of her trying to get her drunken friend to get in the car after they were thrown out and the boys had locked the door to get rid of her. Two of the boys has security videos of themselves, one at a gas station, one at an ATM, at the exact time the supposed assault was taking place. I’ll never forgive these people, especially that grifter Al Sharpton. Calling him out to apologize was the only thing in the last 20 years Whoopi Goldberg has done that I respect.
There's no place where Zionist Apartheid Israel should not be called out for its genocide and ethnic cleansing, and it's other war crimes and atrocities.
They tried the exact same thing in Canada a few months ago with all the predictable assumptions of guilt being levelled at the players. Worst of all the media filmed these five white, good looking kids walking into court everyday all while the “accuser” had a publication ban on her identity! We still don’t know who this person is yet her credibility was questioned throughout the trial and has now been thoroughly disregarded by evidence of the verdict. She could be hired tomorrow by any company yet the innocent players may or may not be able to reinstate their careers.
The MSM was just going nuts with this story for 6 months and then after the acquittal they had to “save face” - so instead of admitting their overzealous reporting they would have headlines like “How Do We Move On From This…” kind of thing. So evil and yet so familiar!!
KC Johnson is fantastic, and beloved by his students. When his own hard left department incredibly denied him tenure, it became a national scandal, you can look it up. Finally there was so much outrage and the tenure decision was so obviously retribution over his non woke politics (even though he was still a democrat!) that they finally had to give it to him.
One doesn't have to turn over too many rocks to discover the most destructive of all the racist grievance grubs, Al Sharpton. He and others of his ilk have done a shocking amount of damage.
Infuriating. For the Left, ideology is greater than truth.
For several generations, whites have been disarmed by propaganda into thinking all races are equal. Anyone living near a major "diverse" population center recognizes that as abject nonsense.
Black resentment and hatred towards whites, especially, has been stoked for generations. Liberal DAs are there to push black criminals through the revolving door that is our "justice system" and onto the streets. Mayhem ensues.
Everyone: purchase and read "Camp of the Saints" from Vauban books. A more prescient dystopian novel you'll never find.
It’s strange how rarely anyone is actually indicted for perjury. I suppose part of the reason is that the courts are already overloaded, and proving perjury is genuinely difficult. Still, progressives seem to have figured out that perjury charges almost never stick. For a while, fear of indictment probably acted as a deterrent, but the cat’s out of the bag—people now understand it’s basically safe. I'm sure if perjury charges were routinely pursued it would probably lead to some criminals being exonerated due to evidentiary weaknesses coupled with fear of the court, but those kind of tradeoffs are inherent and inescapable in any legal system.
Perhaps the same goes for slander: real consequences only seem to arise when the accused has deep pockets and the facts are exceptionally clear. I remember one case, maybe 10 or 15 years ago, when a commercial real estate landlord successfully sued a corporate tenant for slander. The statements in that case were so outrageous and so brazenly published that the suit practically forced itself.
this is why the old system of dueling for honor worked so well. Very few people reckless enough to take the chance, and very few actual deaths due to people working it out, even if seconds were often working behind the scenes to come to an agreement. You wouldn't see the chronic, serial smearers that you have today.
I appreciate the shout-out to K.C. Johnson, who indeed did yeoman work helping to unravel this shameful hoax. I saw him speak about the case at Columbia Law almost a decade later and it's perhaps the most hostile event I ever covered -- the fact that Johnson was more interested in finding the facts than maximally exploiting the propaganda and lies for "social justice" purposes made him just as bad as Hitler in the eyes of at least several dozen Columbia Law students, many of them now marbled throughout the justice system. Not reassuring!
His book Until Proven Innocent: Political Correctness and the Shameful Injustices of the Duke Lacrosse Rape Case is a great detailed layout of the entire hoax. It is infuriating how many people kept their jobs, were promoted or even stayed as the President of DU after what they did.
Great piece. Well worth the re-visit. The reverse racism needs to stop, along with the Me Too crap.
There’s got to be a permanent record for things like the Duke hoax; one that includes the names and stories, sort of like a “Bad Newseum” where all the significant players are named, and the true story is told - and the follow-up is important - if my son was being taught by one of these lying, racist, bastards, I would want to know.
We can no longer rely on the media-press to tell the truth. History is being warped, even as I write. Good people are being slandered and neutralized; evil people get off scot free, and then get promoted . . . while the crimes they committed are ignored and then memory-holed.
This is an excellent summary of what happened. Three books that are recommended for those interested in reading more about this case are: Until Proven Innocent by Stuart Taylor, Jr. and K C Johnson, It's Not About the Truth by Don Yaeger with Mike Pressler and A Rush to Injustice by Nader Baydoun and R. Stephanie Good. The 30 for 30 "Fantastic Lies" is also comprehensive and well done. To the list of the people who got it right I would add Ed Bradley on 60 Minutes, The Innocence Project which honored the three players after their exoneration and the faculty (particularly from Duke Law) who were champions of due process. The players' defense team was also outstanding. The media as a whole performed shamefully even after the exoneration but I can't say that I'm surprised. By the way, Coach Pressler is still coaching both at the high school level and in the Professional Lacrosse League and, in both cases, his teams won championships this year.
Sadly, many people who are aware of the case are not aware of the exoneration or the subsequent punishments to Mike Nifong and Crystal Mangum. To my knowledge, Mike Nifong has never apologized to the three players but at lease Crystal Magnum admitted last year that she lied.
The equivalent to this in the sphere of public health is the smear campaign against Dr. Andrew Wakefield by Brian Deer. It was so effective that now doctors refrain from speaking out against the dominant narratives in medicine lest they get "Wakefielded".
Any of these people who lied and smeared the players should have been sued into oblivion for slander and libel in a sane world. But, as we all know, that’s not where we are…
Reid Seligmann and his family were our neighbors in suburban New Jersey. My son “ babysat” for their four boys a few times. From Day One anyone who knew this wonderful family knew that there was no way Reid was guilty of the charges. So to watch the subsequent hit job was so outrageous and heartbreaking. That the entire spectacle was orchestrated for the purpose of political gain…. Well, here we are 20 years later seeing “ the end justifies the means” still proving to be a successful strategy for politicians who claim “ no one is above the law” whilst confidently knowing that they are and remain above the law. And the media, no change there either…. Our Road was blocked by network news vans and reporters, one who made the mistake of telling this chauffeur Mom that the road was closed until further notice…while shoving a microphone in my face…. Wish I had a recording!
Well my oh my, one could be excused for pointing out that our overlords devised a plan to control people by traumatizing them so bad they lose their souls, and, subsequently, lose the will to defend who they are.
What i find interesting is the first case (Duke Hoax) happened right only 15 years since the beginning of the Globalists movement.
Why isn't that just a coincidence?
Because it only took 15 years to get to the place where the elites of the world identify more with other elites than they do the citizens of their nation state.
This is why populist movements are seen as threat to the political class. Because populous movements are concerned primarily with a proper historical understanding of what the nation is and what the state is for, which is the preservation of the nation and the defense of its people and heritage.
Elites hate that, because their political project is explicitly post-national. They want to destroy the nation as such and replace it with supra national institutions governed by a global elite.
This Duke alum has not forgotten that the Group of 88 were never held accountable.
For what it’s worth, Crystal Mangum is currently serving a far-too-short prison term for murdering her sugar daddy, after laughably claiming she was afraid for her life. I guess she thought playing the victim worked once, so why not again?
Since the false charges were never prosecuted and she later murdered her boyfriend aren't her supporters accessories to that murder.
Great point. Welcome to the urban criminal justice system.
She'll be out in a year or so
She issued an apology from prison but it got no press. Can’t have the poor thing seen in an orange jumpsuit.
It's on YT. It is laughable what she said.
And let's not forget the laughable "apology" she gave in an interview several months ago. Girl has no shame.

No place for the crap here.

How did this comment come from the takedown of the grifters smearing college boys?
Go away. Take your hate with you. Sick of it.
I wondered why . . . Thanks

Pamplin’s tweets are sufficient.
JD Vance has stated it over and over: People must be held accountable. There must be consequences or you get more of this. They will just do it again.
CONSEQUENCES. ARE. NECESSARY. Otherwise there is no law, much less the order that fosters liberty.

More, please.
There is a great book: "Until Proven Innocent: Political Correctness and the Shameful Injustices of the Duke Lacrosse Rape Case"

You may already be familiar but Hate Crime Hoax by Wilfred Reily is excellent 🤙🏻📚
