How To Countdown to New Years Eve
Yuri's Top 10 pairings of 2022, a throwback to the 90s, and an update on pricing
Comrades: Thank you for a fantastic 2022. If you have some down time during this festive period, here are my Top 10 pairings of most viewed posts. As you may have noticed, many posts are orthogonal because clown world is all connected.

Speaking of countdowns - here’s some nostalgia for my fellow 90's kids. TRL, My Super Sweet Sixteen, and Next were peak entertainment. I am morbidly curious to see how demoralized these kids became as adults:
Several readers have written to me about lowering the paid subscription price. In the spirit of full transparency, here are my reasons for keeping the status quo:
I provide exclusive content and meetups to my paid subscribers, which they seem to enjoy. Thus far not a single one has churned and those who I've met in person would be happy to share a reference about how much they enjoy the community.
One of my goals is to make this as social as possible, which is why I will offer buy one get one free to all paid subscribers indefinitely.
I started from scratch a year ago and could not monetize many thousands of existing followers like Weiss, Taibbi, and Greenwald did when they launched on Substack.
~$100/year from one reader is equivalent to $50/year from 2 readers; it's also easier to do the mental math on how many paid subscribers I need to reach certain thresholds to support my family.
Premium brands and products are recession proof. The more income I make on Substack, the more time I spend on it, the higher quality my work gets - you can see the progression over the past year.
My New Years Resolution is to grow the paid subscriber base 10x in 2023. Cheers!
PS: You never know what goes viral on Twitter. I shared the truth about Kwanzaa that netted 100+ new followers.

The kwanzaa post was hilarious, mainly because it was simply telling the truth.
