"Laurene is regurgitating her friend Kamala’s word salad."

While reading her verbal vomit, I immediately thought of Kamala.

The damage these ex's are doing with their husbands money is astounding.

Just cause someone is rich, don't mean they got class......

The word for them is not philanthropist, it is philanthropath. The merging of philanthropist and sociopath. (coined by Margaret Anna Alice).

Just because they had been married to people were geniuses at inventing, managing, and making fortunes does not make them bright enough to use that money well and their charity work to really be beneficial to actual people. Maybe some percent is, but most is eaten up in grift, pay offs or lost and questionable causes. Then there is the Foundation racket. Give money to the, say, Clinton Foundation then get tax benefits, then use the donated money on your self tax free.

As I was reading this article, I was also thinking about that more correct term for them.

It makes me wonder why those wealthy husbands would even marry someone AWFL, so that tells us a lot about their former husbands too?

I have a simple answer for you. As someone who actually has brains, I've often noted that extremely successful men do not want a woman with brains. They don't want competition.

They want to come home and be adored. They want to come home and have the meal on the table, the children taken care of, the landscapers managed and paid. They don't want someone who is their equal.

Very very infrequently do men with a lot of money and a huge ego have the capacity to have an actual partner. They are out there, and most of them are very conservative. But guys like Jobs were so focused on their creative side, that probably all he wanted to do was come home to a BJ.

Sorry I know that's crass, but that's how a lot of them operate. Money is a way for these guys to get what they want from a woman without being bothered by someone who considers them an equal. Just my two cents. The problem is the wealthy guy dies and that dingbat he married does what this AWFL is doing.

DefCon-Dan's avatar

Thanks, that makes sense.

So that sounds like the wealthy guy's wife was not AWFL when they married, but became AWFL later?

Often these women married billionaire husbands-to-be before they became rich. The husbands were more grounded in their early days; they didn't yet have access to the rich and famous, nor attract gold diggers.

Stephen Davenport's avatar

They are thinking with their peckers, got them a "trophy" gold-digging wife.

Philanthropath. Love it!

It seems to be a highly contagious disease…

Wow, Melinda and Laurene speak like women who married money and now have crowned themselves as royalty, but they really are scarecrows looking for a brain.

Beth's avatar

Just like the wives of colonels and admirals in the military. They believe they have the rank that their husbands have. Ask anyone in the military if they run into that. It will be a resounding yes.

"Laurene still needs to LinkedIn flex." LOL! No amount of mansions and sanctimonious high horsies can satiate the most basest of desires: _corporate accolades online._ The LI-itch must be scratched! The greater the pride, the more irritating the rash.

The most annoying thing about the AWFL stereotype (or in Laurene's case: archetype) is how unabashed and unaware its manifestations are – inherent to the "Arrested Development" style haughtiness of the persona. I know quite a few always-online (Instagram Stories, "Free Palestine") million dollar digital nomad AWFLs, and the least they could do is sober up with a sip of tap water and if only for a day: put down their lifetime subscription to socialist champagne.

In all seriousness it is bizarre how anticivilizational (often female, often white) "suicidal empathy" becomes when supercharged with billion dollar slush funds. That amount of affluence is truly a curse though, I'm not sure what to suggest; mo money mo problem. I mean, as one hypothetical – and given the current situation – I'd rather support intergenerational regenerative American farmers and patriotic permaculture, but I guess that's just my philanthropy (fantasy) against hers. Ah, if only I could be an AWFL too...

Steve Jobs had the genius vision, took the risks, and busted his ass to make it a reality, only to drop dead young from the worst cancer possible (pancreatic).

Now, this b*tch who didn't do anything special can go throw his $$ around to destroy society and aggrandize herself. All she had to do was smile and spread her legs.

It's a Female American Dream story!

The very first paragraph in Jobs' op-ed piece channels Maimonides but places him, wrongly I think, in a modern context. It seems clear that the philosopher had "giving" on the individual level in mind, where the giver and the ultimate recipient are face-to-face. Little could Maimonides imagine the charitable-industrial complex society has morphed into today.

Garrett Phillips's avatar

I'd love to hear Powell Jobs explain why you can't separate climate from equity. That statement is completely idiotic.

Maryanne's avatar

I read that Laurene single-handedly kicked members of the audience out of their seats that were in proximity to Steve Jobs so that she could sit next to him at a lecture at Stanford and introduce herself.

CHUCKY's avatar

Of course! Gold diggers have a nose for gold, just like ants have a nose for a picnic. And the gold diggers also have the feminine wiles to seduce the often-spergy beta males into sharing it with them.

Maryanne's avatar

Her family is already wealthy. I think she singled Jobs out because never gave to charities and nonprofits. He was philosophically against it, apparently. Imagine that Laurene buddies up with that monster Ghislane Maxwell.

CHUCKY's avatar

I think she singled out Jobs because she's money-hungry and could tell he was easily manipulable with a smile, a little leg showing, and some pats on the chest for big boy. She was fairly attractive, as well.

Maryanne's avatar

I suppose whatever it took to "take him down."

If you want inside the fence insight into the lefty philanthropist world, check out Inside Philanthropy, run by the super woke David Callahan (who could have ghost written Laurene’s WSJ piece.) here is some quarterbacking IP did on the Benioff wrongthink scandal. https://www.insidephilanthropy.com/home/how-marc-benioff-sparked-a-bay-area-uproar-and-turned-the-city-against-him?utm_source=daily-newsletter&utm_medium=rss-email&utm_campaign=42519&pnespid=srB_EX4WJvMKwfzJvTq_HMOTpBS3SJQncrPnzPVlvx5mF0KvwEBxi35KeycvbK2jIyWEdC8go7s

OP's write up is appropriately spicy. I have been busy and am trying to catch up. Maybe re-teach myself AI because I forgot. Wait, I have also forgotten if the "A" in "AI" stands for the same thing as the "A" in "AWFL." Sorry, old person trying to samizdat. I mean, I don't even know what "vibe" means. There are literally 30 year old people who change it, or maybe an AWFL AI changes it. I can't tell because I cannot remember the acronym. Please don't google it for me--I'll have the AWFL AI do that.

The silver lining here is if this is really how she donates, a majority of every dollar she hands over is stolen or wasted. The last thing we want is Leftist mega donors enforcing efficiency and accountability on their recipients, because that would actually drive their agenda forward.

Wasted spending for thee, but not for me.

Dave's avatar

OK... So this retardess managed to seduce a high functioning autist and secure her billions and is now burning through it by funding even more retarded people who will burn through it making retarded spending choices.

I look forward to their contributions to hyperinflation.

Zeeb33's avatar

Would be glad to set up a climate justice nonprofit or whatever it is she wants to fund, for the low, low overhead cost of 60% of donations.

Zeeb33's avatar

We should figure out ways to break us off some of that sweet payola. Sounds like her criteria are loose and accountability is zero. Why not get in on it?
