Comrades: The Explorers Club is the home of legends.
Thanks to a Yuri reader, I had the honor of visiting this storied clubhouse. Founded in 1904 with the goal of promoting scientific exploration and field study, it has served as a hub for the world’s most intrepid people. Its illustrious members have included many firsts: Robert Peary (North Pole 1909), Roald Amundsen (South Pole 1911), Sir Edmund Hillary & Tenzing Norgay (Mount Everest 1953), Don Walsh & Jacques Piccard (Mariana Trench 1960), and Neil Armstrong & Buzz Aldrin (Moon 1969). There are currently ~3,500 living members.
The Explorers Club headquarters is a living museum, filled with inspiring treasures from historic expeditions. We must keep the flame burning that drives exploration and combats demoralization. Here are the most fascinating exhibits:
