It is interesting that it didn't come up in my first Google search for it, but did in my second. Dan Rather has generally had a reputation of being among the best of the worst of former national news anchors.
Moderated debates would make Substack my favorite website
And now for my deranged capitalist take: Substack should hold pay-per-view events, with several smaller debates leading up to the one main event. Sponsors should be colleges and academic organizations. There should be a college division. A kid's division, even. It'll be like the UFC of intellectuals. No...it'll be greater than that
Douglas Murray & Matt Taibbi vs Malcolm Gladwell & Michelle Goldberg. Oh wait, that already happened. Wanna see Malcolm Gladwell make a complete fool of himself? Look no further than the Monk debate.
Matt Taibbi v. Dan ‘Rather’ Biased
I would pay COLD, HARD CASH to see this one.
Dan Rather has a Substack?
Yes it’s called steady and it’s predictably bad
I’m still fuming over the one he put out on Veterans Day.

It appears unlikely that moderated debates would be between those with Substacks.
Substack would rise above Disqus if it allowed for blocking ad hominemists.

anyone in this comments section want to debate me on something?
better yet -- anybody want to fight??? Boxing or MMA?
Happy to moderate or ref any debate topic or bout between Chris and comment challengers
You'd have to get the majority of the suggested participants to get Substacks if you wanted the debates to be between those who have them.
You're not supposed to talk about fight club!
Awesome baby awesome you remember.
Has Herman been at my keyboard, more and more?
Thumb wrestle 👍🏼

Good thing you didn’t mention me, because I‘d never throw pearls in front of pigs.

Jerry! Jerry! Jerry! 🍿
With you 100%. However, will the leftist/Marxist have the balls to show up to defend their ideology?
I would be here for every single one of these. Also, you and I seem to read the same people. Nice.
This is the greatest idea ever on Substack. Leave it to Yuri to come up with it.
What is needed more than a debate is a channel on cable and streaming featuring otherwise underground and seldom heard viewpoints.
They could debate in dingy basements and the debates end with the cops breaking up the party.
If any of those "sides" needs input on ESG and corporate sustainability data and how/if/when/where it has any meaning, call me maybe.
Bravo! This is how shit will get fixed!
