How To Visit a Warzone (Part 3)
Yuri's guide to Belgrade and an update on Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh)
Comrades: As I predicted, Novak Djokovic triumphed at the Australian Open. He attributes his immense mental strength to growing up in war-torn Serbia. In the mid-2010s, I visited his hometown Belgrade. After the paywall, I have posted pictures of and commentary on this fascinating city. Saint Sava Orthodox Church is stunning:
First, let us pray for Artsakh and Armenia. I have previously written about their plights in How To Visit a Warzone Part 1 and Part 2. Since December 12, Azerbaijani government-sponsored “eco-protestors” have blocked the only road between Armenia and Stepanakert, the capital of Artsakh. This is an intentional ceasefire violation that is causing a humanitarian crisis. The blockade of the Lachin Corridor prevents food, critical medical supplies, and other essentials from reaching 120,000 Armenians. Azerbaijan has also cut off the gas to Artsakh, leading to blackouts. Kids are freezing and starving, reliant on firewood and candlelight.
Just as WWI distracted the great powers from intervening to stop the Armenian Genocide, the escalation to WWIII has distracted them from intervening to stop this genocidal act. Azerbaijan’s dictator Ilham Aliyev is intentionally inflicting harm on civilians with an intent to remove them from their lands and erase their history, as he did in Nakhchivan to the thousands of khachkars in the Julfa Armenian cemetary . Several thousand Russian peacekeepers stationed in Artsakh are standing down, while the US State Department does nothing except make empty virtue-signaling statements. History is once again repeating itself; “never again” keeps happening.
The US and EU still provide foreign aid to Azerbaijan in exchange for its oil. However, the Azeris import a substantial portion of their own oil from Russia and then resell it to us suckers. Why is our foreign policy such a clown show? Physiognomy never lies. Lynne Tracy was Ambassador to Armenia from 2018-2022 when they lost the Artsakh War. Now she has failed up to become Ambassador to Russia. This mask Karen is the woman who is supposed to intimidate Putin and prevent nuclear war. Time to upgrade your survivalist bunkers:
This banger will fire you up:
Now onto Serbia, another Orthodox Christian nation at the crossroads of history…
