Well, hats off to those kids. Imagine having a mother this self-absorbed and a father named Gray who teaches humanities…

It’s a miracle if these young men are doing anything remotely masculine.

To clarify for non-Canadians, she does not actually teach at real “college.” She teaches at Dawson College, which is something unique in Quebec called a CEGEP. The rest of Canada (and all the US) has high school til grade 12, but in Quebec you graduate after grade 11. So they set up a “pre-university” system for kids to go to between high school and college so they wouldn’t be a year behind everyone else. All of which simply to say that she might be trying to present herself as a college professor but in real life she’s a 12th grade English teacher.

wow. 2 highly educated professors and at no time can they ever consider that their worldview might be wrong. they interpret every action and situation through the lens of identity politics.

"There’s no mystery about why young women are becoming more progressive, but it’s harder to understand the factors behind the increasingly conservative young men”

this is the line that says it all. the level of navel gazing prevents her from seeing what is quite literally in front of her face.

Thank you for your service. I don’t know how you can actually read this garbage. I can’t even sit through the pre-digested segments you have so kindly provided.

Someday this crazy bitch will be at an “Estranged Parents” Reddit forum (Reddit—of course) wondering why her kids don’t contact her or invite her to anything ever, and she will stalk them.

Thanks again for your hard work and dedication.

My youngest child, my son was renting a place when I showed him a 2 family on auction.com. You bid on foreclosed properties unseen inside the home. He won the bid and I gave him a zero percent loan for eighty percent of what he needed, he had the rest. He paid me back in 40 months. The process of fixing up a home, paying taxes, having tenants and paying for it all will make anyone red pilled. He was in his early twenties when all this transpired. Now he owns crypto and is looking for the country home with acreage as he now sees that living in cities is soon to blow up. I am so proud of the MAN he has become, now married with my grand daughter. Btw he never went to college.

1) grew up on a hippie commune—weird bc such conditions typically force traditional gender roles on people who would otherwise rail against them

https://www.thenation.com/article/society/commune-parenting-radical-community/

2) is of the “usual suspects” group of shit-stirring people who simply cannot help themselves (possibly relevant)

3) uses the word “nuanced” way too much

4) probably thinks she is a girlboss but most likely would not be able to support herself on her mental-masturbation musings (many such types)

…but really the hyphenated name is all you need to know

Also: why is her backsplash so greasy a person can draw in it

I’m still shocked teens ever thought conformity was cool, yet the desire to belong is strong. I am a Gen-xer, doing my best to stoke a nonconformist fire in my own kids. I think it’s a big reason many identify gay or trans—it’s not real but a fad. Now that that’s “normal” hopefully teens can come to their senses.

Please note that she is such a wonderful parent, that she killed their younger sibling as he or she would have been an inconvenience to her ... moreover she was paid to write about this in Jezebel.

I'm nostalgic for the day when Republicans were an actual opposition party. Oh, wait, that never happened. Well, maybe from 1854 to 1860. Even then, though they swallowed the economic policies of the Whigs whole.

What she should contemplate with that ideological brain of hers is that her "very firm political beliefs" are highly correlated with her status anxiety. She's a relatively poor and unsuccessful member of the Brahmin class. She and her hubby are "in academia," but at the very low end of it. So she frantically status signals her loyalty to the luxury beliefs of the progressive class.

I guess we have to applaud her for the tiny glimmers of self-awareness shown here. But, man, she is taking the tiniest of baby steps. She's starting to think that maybe, just maybe, she should allow her sons to (temporarily) play around with an idea she doesn't agree with without frantically shooting them down like an AWFL twitter warrior. What she should do is drop all her vain, silly politics, encourage her sons to figure everything out without her foolish and destructive influence, and then adopt whatever they come up with, which will surely be much truer than whatever she thinks now.

God, if my mother (rest her soul) had written such drivel, I would have joined the French Foreign Legion the next day.

Her writing is, shall we say, difficult to read. Buzzy, hip, jargon-filled. "I'm cool, can't you see?" All while demonstrating a severe lack of awareness.

My parents didn’t tell me anything. Wait, they did tell me some stuff: sit up straight, chew with your mouth closed, speak politely, do your homework, respect your elders. Nothing else. They saw me as what I was, a 13-year-old dip shit.

A penis on the wall would’ve got me a smack in the ear and protestations that it wasn’t me would’ve been ignored.

The left are losers.

The vengeful son is going to come after the devouring mother hard in the years to come. And they’ll deserve it. This lady literally diagnoses the problem (her and people like her) and then shifts all responsibility to pop culture that her kids like. Plus, she writes like an Tumblr-sick teenager. No wonder her kids are scrawling cocks-and-balls everywhere.
