This is overly sentimental rubbish.
I was deeply angered by his suicide; I had very much enjoyed his shows and his wonderfully engaging personality.
You are starting to learn something that some of us also have and some of us refuse to--*your children are more important than any inner crap you deal with. You crawl through your own broken glass, if need be, to protect your children. You do not abandon your children.* But you are forgiving another for something you know is unforgivable.
Many of us have looked into the black moment. Some of us have been surprised to have accidentally survived the black moment, and some of us have learned from it.
It is impermissible to abandon your children. That's it. That's the rule. That's the meaning of life. I repeat--he did something unforgivable. Everything he did, and was, before that is meaningless now because he refused to be a grownup.
When you become a parent, you forswear free choice. You no longer have the luxury of abandoning yourself to the black moment. For every single one of us--we pass the test or we fail. It is the only test in life that matters.
Thanks for your insightful comment as always. I agree that a parent suicide is unforgivable. My grief is more for his daughter and the many men like him who succumb to toxic leftist females. His show was a net positive for the world and will never be surpassed in the genre.
Want to ask about the despair of women who get close to succumbing to...
There's too much agony in the world for any of us to look at for too long. The actual tangible pain of a heart breaking is truly almost unendurable. Sometimes one's triumphs consist of surviving each 15-minute increment, or managing to eat an entire sandwich over the course of 18 hours or so.
But we must not allow ourselves to be sentimental when, indeed, the present and future of a child is at stake. Too many of the people weeping for Bourdain never think of his kids at all; they are as invisible to the world as they ended up being for him.
And thank you for taking this so graciously when it hurt you so much in the post's writing.
That was very powerful. I am a parent and I have messed up tremendously but when it came down to my kids or my life I chose my kids for the very reasons you stated. Glad I did (for so many obvious reasons) as they need me now more than ever, regardless of their age/status in life.
Anthony Bourdain's love affair with Viet Nam was infectious. In my opinion the episodes filmed there were among his best. However, that segment filmed in Hanoi with President Obama was difficult to watch. There's that moment after they finish their meal, when Bourdain brings up immigration and building a wall in the context of the upcoming election in 2016. It was totally tone deaf for their surroundings. They are sitting in a restaurant in the capitol of a communist country where they would lock you up and throw away the key if you did not have a valid passport and visa.
And of course, if you read about the filming of that segment, you know that the segment was in fact "staged" in the sense that they are in an upstairs private area populated with pre-selected friendly patrons. That's all fine and necessary, but it's a little misleading when the President complains about being forced to eat in "private" rooms when he takes Michelle out for a date night dinner all while he is in fact having dinner in one of those private rooms.
I look forward to reading Comrade Yuri's accounts of travel, particularly in Viet Nam. The country has a lot to offer. But like any country, it has its downsides, including being notorious for its "scam culture" that tends to target tourists traveling on a budget.
I was never a huge fan of his, I watched a couple of early episodes of Parts Unknown and they were interesting. Then when I was living in Houston I watched the Parts Unknown on H-Town and he was such a dick and run of the mill shitlib it turned me off him forever
Activists, tattoos, piercings, self debasement. Stay away men. It could cost your life. Any woman who would defile themselves to such a degree is self obsessed and utterly lost. She will not think twice about her next impulsive desires for satisfaction to quell her dis-ease in the world.
I take issue with your comment that one racial injustice triggered BLM. Which one?
Trayvon Martin? Martin viciously attacked George Zimmerman who was nearly beaten to death before he defended himself and was able to get his gun out and give Martin what he deserved. The myth of an injustice against Martin and all of black America is a lie.
Michael Brown? He assaulted a police officer and tried to shoot him with his own gun. Then he turned around and charged the police officer, not stopping until the final bullet stopped his charge. All of the forensic evidence supported the officer's acquittal. BLM was born from the ashes of "Burn this motherf*** down", barbarity and a vicious lie.
George Floyd? The officer who supposedly murdered him in cold blood called an ambulance when Floyd appeared to be overdosing. Floyd complained that he couldn't breathe and refused to be seated in the back of the police car. Faced with no choice the officers kept him on the ground immobilized using approved restraint techniques waiting for the ambulance to arrive while a crowd taunted and harassed the officers trying to make the arrest. The forensic evidence and toxicology report suggested that Floyd had many times the lethal dose of fentanyl in his system and that asphyxiation by choking was not a cause of death. US Congress people and social justice activists threatened to burn down the city a second time on the eve of the verdict.
Never validate the devil's lies. If there is another true injustice that hatched BLM and the riots and the ongoing race war being waged by the Black Supremacist movement against all other races in our nation, I am happy to hear about it.
Great piece. Haven’t ever been much of a TV watcher, which is probably why I have so much common sense and haven’t been brainwashed like most, and so I can’t say I was a fan. I only really knew about him from having dinner w Obama. It’s my understanding there was something odd about that and about his death, that it really wasn’t suicide. Wouldn’t surprise me. Too many in those circles have deaths that raise eyebrows.
I AGREE! Something else went on. Holly wood has some evil demons lurking. Maybe he was a part of something he knew was wrong and deeply regretted. Maybe he also knew too much. Regardless, God can get one through ANYTHING. People in dire situations (or not) should be calling out to God. Period!
Not knowing the details of Bourdain's life nor his relationship to his children (which one comment gets into), it's so true that there are many men who succumb to predatory females.
Regarding his children, again, knowing nothing about Bourdain's reasons for whatever happened to his relationship with his children, there is much gameplaying that is done by custodial parents (predominantly female) to sabotage any healthy relationship the noncustodial parent (predominantly male) can have with the child/children. The damage is sometimes lifelong.
He only had one daughter (with his second wife) when he was about 50. She was 10 or 11 when he died. It sounded like part of the reason that his second marriage ended because he was away so much filming. I am not sure how often he was able to see his daughter.
Not disagreeing that sabotage can occur. I just don't know if it was a factor with Bourdain.
RIP Tony... however you are missin' the fat elephant in the morgue... Elephant iz why the man wuz really suicided.... red scarf club ritual satanic sacrifice (aka murder) like Kate Spade an' many others---B/C he was gonna fink on the horrific Hollyweird / Moloch cannibalism Kappy-style. Serious here but mebbe this is too dark to believe if ya aren't red pilled on this stuff. In brief the man had a conscience an' his gal pal was into the dark stuff an' the folks that funded his career did so (from lame fuk-up horse addict to famous horse eater...you don't WUNDER how this heppened?) He wanted out from his career-skyrocketin' pact with the devil. Darker than he imagined as a private chef fer Sausage Parties.
Fellow chefs like Ripert took the dough an' ran with it... Tony had a conscience an' his wet whistle wuz about ta blow.
Think Lil' St James (f)art / heart-cookery frau Marina Abronovic is just fer show? NO. Soylent Green is people even at the fancy cannibal cafe at Bohemian Grove (Davos etc). Think pizzagate gourmet style an' Tony was asked to fix up the leftovers with truffles an' other special touches-- he could not do it any more. RIP Tony with a conscience.
'Course writin' as a crackpot this kin be shelved away in the F(r)iction section at The Strand... ;-)
It's always a shame when any person feels that the only way out is to end their own life.
It's also a shame that Anthony Bourdain didn't come to you for help, as you know him so well and can successfully diagnose all his mental health problems. He surely lost out on you compassion and guidance.
I started digging when Epstein was arrested….the hole is a pit and Hollywood, politicians, media, basically the same EVIL, SATANIC people running the whole PLANDEMIC are all pedophiles and horrible, disgusting, vile trolls who should be castrated and then hung to make sure they don’t ever come back
This is overly sentimental rubbish.

We all fail our kids. The point is to fail as little as possible. Which is hard enough… 😉

The show got worse as his shitlibbery progressed into terminal form.
Shitlibbery. I love it. Boy, the comments here started out pretty sane and went off the cliff quick.
Also before marriage and kids I traveled a lot. Went to Myanmar back in 2006. Looking forward to your post.

Judging a book by it's cover?
You don’t put bumper stickers on a Lamborghini...
You can do whatever you want with your Lamborghini.
It’s in the owners manual...
😂
Tattoos are low class male or female. Bourdain had plenty of shitty tattoos too. He was no prize pig.

Otherwise, no quarter!
AMEN! Right on the target on ALL points! It’s called TRUTH. You do your fact analyzing just like I do.
Derek Chauvin DID NOT murder George Floyd. George Floyd murdered George Floyd. Now Chauvin is rotting in prison…

Bravo Yuri! And wake up ppl! Bourdain was an inside job, much like 9/11 and Covid.
An inside job or a sacrifice? Hmmm…

Note that I'm female.

I learned a new 'word' this week = D3 = 'Deranged Woke White Woman'. Seems like Tony met up with one of them.
No judgment from me, but fascinating article nonetheless!
Many in Hollywood are into the occult. It’s extremely disturbing what I’ve uncovered the last few years. VERY disturbing…
I started digging when Epstein was arrested….the hole is a pit and Hollywood, politicians, media, basically the same EVIL, SATANIC people running the whole PLANDEMIC are all pedophiles and horrible, disgusting, vile trolls who should be castrated and then hung to make sure they don’t ever come back
EXACTLY!!!! Kinda like the Clinton associate that just hung himself AND shot himself. What came first, the chicken or the egg?
