During the 2004 campaign, I decided that I would join the Alaska Green Party. My political proclivities were strongly libertarian (so I thought) and I had supported the Alaska Independence Party in the past and thought I could bring some vigor & rigor to the local Green Party after listening to their candidates debate in the local PBS venue. They stressed how critical it was to establish guidance by seeking consensus. Sounded very reasonable to me. In the first meeting I attended, I suggested that to achieve the goals of the Green Party (for Alaska in particular), the best way to do that was to gain independence from Washington D.C. I was rapidly made to feel very unwelcome and if not physically ejected, certainly rejected, nonetheless... I did not let the door hit me on my way out. I learned that "consensus" as it meant then and as it means today, is a process of elimination, wherein all dissenting voices contrary to the dogma are eliminated. All power goes to the committee created by "seeking consensus". Consensus can only exist to support the committee. This is how we save "our democracy".

Excellent conversation with Rav! Suggesting Jay B. for Director of CDC is brilliant.
