God, I miss Michael Crichton! Such a wonderful mind to have gone from us way too soon. I have felt like I was living in a "Lost world" for so long I've become extremely skeptical that we can dig ourselves out of the hole we have created for ourselves. Like Fox Mulder I want to believe and share El Gato's ebullience, but I'll believe it when I see it. The Swamp has already put its latest model in charge of the Senate. The GOP majority in the House is razor thin, and I've seen a lot of good people and ideas go down in flames in my 70 years, a la Who's The Punk Meets The Godfather. Keep the victory dance short and show us the results.
This comment is so on point. Read EGMs piece of this morning. I have been in that space for decades and everything he says is true about the space and the outliers who create companies. But I have also spent years in the District trying to make ANYTHING happen to no end. Money rules (power, too, but mostly money) and you never know from where it is coming and to whom it is going.
So I am NOT cautiously optimistic. But, in contradistinction to past years/events, I am ready to be pleasantly surprised. Thune was a setback, but the entire Senate is an anachronism poorly understood by most so it is hard to tell what it all means. We shall soon see.
Whitepill - We *know* money rules politics. It's brutally simple. Soros knew this fact and molded America into his twisted vision.
Musk saw that and realized you could push America into the vision you want with enough cash.
He's like Soros except he's oriented towards a galactic future, seems to genuinely care about humanity, and most importantly, is nearly 150X richer than Soros and far more autistic.
My thanks, Yuri, for all your hard work, burning insights, humor, and cultural revolution leadership. My admiration for creating a dynamic business model based on those and for the great upgrade to baby Yuri's room. On such acts does the future of civilization depend.
Love the analogy of the army of Substackers/X-ers/Meme-ers -- as a "...rag tag groups of patriots gathered out of sight in encrypted backwaters." -- to our most valiant soldiers of the Revolutionary War. And -- "Elon served as Marquis de Lafayette, another patriotic immigrant arriving at a critical moment." -- really put a lovely flourish on your post. I've felt - like Vivek - that we needed a '1776 moment/movement'. I believe we may have gotten. Thank you for putting it so eloquently.
Hola Tovarisch, congrats on your MMOH (Meme Medal of Honor). Furthermore, well done on integrating "the memes of production" into your screed. I have officially run out of things to do in retirement for the foreseeable future, so I will be haunting the stack more. EEE Yahhh!!! (in the spirit of Howard Dean)
Would you be so kind as to speak to the connection between Irving Kristol's NeoCon designation and Communist Marxism? His son Bill Kristol has picked up the same banner and is misleading the public. A wolf in sheep's clothing?
Is there some place I could access vector art of the DOGE logo you have above? I'd like to get embroidered patches made. Also, an interesting meme idea for it: People in different countries could swap out the U.S.A. flag and substitute their own. It could become a global movement.
I've had some time to think about things since the election and quasi-creation of DOGE. (After all, DJT isn't eve in office yet.) Something has been nibbling at the edge of my consciousness. I know I'm slowing down with age. It's also related to a news item and resulting Sasha Latypova piece. A few weeks ago Sen. Rand Paul proposed a government commission to monitor bioweapons. While not a card-carrying Libertarian, it's clear that Sen. Paul has some leanings in that direction. After all, Paul's father was the 1988 Libertarian nominee for President. (I voted for him, by the way.) You would think he would know better than to (in effect) say: 'Let's take some more tax money to create another commission to monitor ourselves.' This, after that same government used us all in what Ms. Latypova argues was a bioweapons test (COVID vaccines). Fast forward to now. Yes, Vivek and Elon are way cool. Who better to take a bunch of tax money to 'make government more efficient.' Oh, uh, wait a second. Why not just smaller? Silly me. Of course we're not going to do that! Forgive my skepticism, but I always seem to be the guy asking who peed in the pool.

I'll add that Elon doesn't ever like to lose.
'Cautious optimism' is my byword.
A round of applause for Yuri, our Commander in Chat
I’d like the shirt without the words covering his eyes… it’s disconcerting
Just a pic of Yuri with no text would be enough of an inside joke.
Of course, I'll only buy one if they come in black.

Great piece, buddy.

Yes check out my piece on him and The Bulwark: https://yuribezmenov.substack.com/p/how-to-lick-boots-at-the-bulwark
Thank you!!!
Prefer a 60/40 or 40/60 cotton blend. Don't really wear 100% cotton much
