I was starting to get ireful, but I'm awake too early today for my temperament so it took me a moment to remember that classical doesn't include, but succeeds, baroque.
I came late to an appreciation of these forms because I tended, as one o' them rotten kids, to loathe anything I was instructed to admire. But now I feel great pity for those who deprive themselves of Bach and Mozart, and the composers you list above. It's to remain always small and to deny oneself the only way, really, we get to hear the Divine.
One of the symptoms of turning 30 was I have the local classical radio station playing 24/7 in my kitchen. In da minivan it’s Sirius symphony hall (by the pool y2kountry or 90s on 9 I’m only human)
Also check out wee sing for when yulia is older Bought some cassettes off eBay. I think my 3yo is the only 3Yo who can operate a cassette player, the best ones are wee sing around the campfire and wee sing fun and folk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-KR6vcsYw4
I love those. Kicking myself for giving away our original cassettes years ago. There is a YouTube channel as well as the internet archive who have the original Wee Sing Silly Songs, which was our family favorite. And by original I mean the one sung by the two grownups. The later ones were all sung by a kid chorus and not as good.
Lovely list. Thank you.
I would add this, what I think is the most beautiful piece ever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZR2JlDnT2l8
and this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnacdOIoTBQ
Good additions! Also Handel water music and messiah for Christmas duh and Easter
And maybe this is déclassé but Aaron Copland tell me hoe-down doesn’t get your blood pumping
While not classical, I love this piece and the artist. It is good for my soul to see women creating beautiful music like this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lki_jSeUtog&list=RDEMQNFvnjpGSJ3Z-c-9L2Lmzw&index=2
